Bank of America honors the 25th anniversary of 9/11
Bank of America recently announced a $250,000 commitment to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, building on more than $160 million in support for first responders, veterans and military service members over the past 15 years as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Beyond the new Tunnel to Towers partnership, Bank of America is expanding their support for organizations that preserve the history and legacy of September 11, including a $1 million commitment to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and funding for the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. We are also supporting remembrance and service through 9/11 Day, New York-based first responder organizations and employee volunteer opportunities across the country.
“September 11 is a deeply significant part of our shared history,” said Chair and CEO Brian Moynihan. “As we remember those who lost their lives and recognize all who responded in service and sacrificed so much, we are continuing our longstanding support for first responders, veterans, military service members and the organizations that serve them.”
Bank of America is providing $250,000 to Tunnel to Towers Foundation to support new Veteran Villages offering housing and related services for veterans. The Veteran Villages are planned in 14 markets, including Buffalo and Long Island, N.Y.; Charlotte, N.C.; Detroit; Las Vegas; and New Jersey.
Employees will also participate in volunteer projects to assemble 3,000 “Welcome Home” care packages for individuals supported by Tunnel to Towers. Activities are planned in New York City; Washington, D.C.; Boston; Long Island; and New Jersey, in addition to the markets where the Veteran Villages will be developed.
“As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the heroes we lost that day and the brave men and women who answered the call to serve our country in the years that followed,” said Frank Siller, chairman and CEO of Tunnel to Towers Foundation. “Bank of America’s support for our Veteran Villages will change the lives of veterans who have struggled after returning home, providing them with a safe place to live and the support they need. We’re grateful for their commitment to make sure no veteran is left behind on the streets of the country they served.”
